Much like HOUSE OF SALEM this film has promise but is let down by bad acting and cheap production. The film uses some good ideas and is certainly watchable but there are obvious frustrations throughout. The mom and daughter who the film focuses on look more like twins and the kids who narrate the start are either badly dubbed or just over the top bad.
Space Sharks is thudding, plodding Ferguson nonsense. Eric Roberts has about two lines in the film and looks liked he wandered off the set of a Stalked By My Doctor sequel. Mel Novak is very full on. Forcing tears through his very intense face. There's narrative tangents that make very little sense. Characters thrown about willy nilly. I'm pretty sure Ferguson cobbled together a bunch of different scenes from half finished films to get the running time long enough because so little of it connects. There's a scene where characters walk down a path and the sound of the crunching leaves beneath them is so loud it drowns out all dialogue. There are like three shots of the titular Space Sharks. Most of the film is about killer plants...?! The credits are, of course, over ten minutes long.
SUCH A BORING MOVIE! I cannot believe the hype that this is getting. The only reason I showed the slightest bit of interest in it was because it was mostly AI'ed (the writing) but the whole thing was really just boring. On the plus if I have to say something positive this is Lee Westwick's best work. It looks like his most cinematic film. However the storyline and the pacing of some of these scenes really bored the hell out of me and nobody got interesting. It's all doom and gloom and very depressing that you'll definitely won't want to watch it again. Acting was good overall but it doesn't entertain you completely.
