From its beginning there has never been a television as consistently action packed as 24. Season 5 may very well be the most entertaining season of television ever produced.
Sure, there are sequences, that upon reflection, may lack credibility, but when you are caught up in the story, as you will be, you won't even notice.
The series needs to be enjoyed in order. As I said, in my opinion Season 5 is the best but Seasons 1-4 should be watched first to provide key background.
All seasons provide edge-of-your-seat excitement. And all provide examples of heroism, primarily from the lead character portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland, but also by others.

Rich Man, Poor Man, Book II is mildly interesting but not really worthy of its predecessor.
The original is a classic and truly a historic benchmark in television. It, of course benefitted from the star-making effort of Nick Nolte as Tom. It also benefitted from a great story spanning decades.
RMPM, B2 is much less compelling and is overly long though much less complex.
The cast is great though. Peter Strauss is a fine actor. I generally enjoy every he's in. Gregg Henry as Tom's son Wes ably handles the role.
Penny Peyser is great as Ramona as well.
All in all, you will probably want to watch this if you are a fan of the original miniseries. I enjoyed the follow up novel by Irwin Shaw, Beggarman, Thief more.

Every episode of Breaking Bad before this one told a chapter of a fascinating story. With "One Minute", the story evolves. The remaining episodes make Breaking Bad one of the most entertaining examples of programming ever produced. From here on out, it is truly a roller-coaster ride suspenseful drama.
