Many criticisms I saw people make were stating it's not believable or without dialogue it doesn't work...
To address the latter... IT'S CALLED SILENT NIGHT. ALL MARKETING TOLD YOU HE CAN'T SPEAK SO THERE WILL BE MINIMAL TO NO SPEAKING.
As for the believably... it definitely is. A grieving parent going through great lengths to avenge the death of their child where the police aren't helping. The movie lays out the cause, the build-up, and the climax perfectly... with an ending the SUITS IT. I mean he has a year to train and perfect his plan, of course he will be able to hold is own.
All in all, it's not John Wick... or Monkey Man... etc etc etc. But it's a take on a rookie version who doesn't care if he dies. It's great at that. Realistically I'd give this a 7 but with the amount of dumb reviews I feel like an 8 helps even it out. I'd definitely watch it again with friends or maybe next holiday season.

The movie is solid, run of the mill thriller with a decent story. DEFINITELY something that could not be made today which makes it much better than it is (this isn't a dig, I genuinely think having the subject matter in todays world be even more taboo than it was then makes it a better movie). My only issue is the sexualization of a real minor. Alicia plays 14, but is still underage herself. Many reviewers lust over the character and the situations presented which even for then is very suspect. If you do decide to watch this movie just remember than the actress is still a minor, legally, so don't fall victim to the dirty thoughts. Many reviewers have as you can see.
They do not judge fair. Not only does the undeserving person usually win... but the judges openly contradict their decisions.
The only explanation is the show being rigged. I literally watched a "Finale" where the judges chose the most interesting design and said her baking tasted terrible. This is a freaking food show.
The only way this show can be redeemed is if they stop rewarding stories and crying. One person cried every episode, was almost eliminated twice, but won the whole thing. In comparison, another chef stayed strong, worked hard, and made desserts that were well liked but because he didn't cry or tell some stupid story.
Do not watch this show.
