I am not sure what the creators of this fiasco were on while making this picture. The music is not the same as the Broadway Musical, I can't tell if it's different songs or just bad singing with bad arranging... The story is a complete insult about the foster system. It is completely wrong and misguided. Apparently no one in Hollywood has a heart to become a foster parent, since they continue to misrepresent foster children - which is a horrible crime - foster parents and the foster system. It appears to be an easy target for lazy writers, just like the writers on this vapid, boring non musical movie.
It's painful to watch the character Darlene as the seasons go on. It seems like the writers wanted to make the character the most selfish, rude, mean and unhappy woman in the world, and it's not funny. No one would hopefully put up with anyone that awful in their life, so how did she get a handsome, caring, intelligent husband, a successful career, non-suicidal children... The beauty of Roseanne was that it showed us the real world, recognizing the truth about living from paycheck to paycheck, but still finding humor and joy in it. But that formula seems to be missing the main ingredients on this show. How disappointing in too many ways. The 5 is for everyone, mainly wonderful Ms. Metcalf! If only the show centered around wonderful Metcalf perhaps we could see hope and joy in the doldroms of reality.
It would be a much better series if they stop using thr new Uhura, the over-rated actress is unintersting, boring, and is terrible in this series. How could they do it to the original Uhura, she emitted feelings on her face and her body unlike the blasé one here. And Uhura had threats against her for her role in the 1960s, and this one acts like "I'm perfect, I know everyone loves me." What an insult to the creators of that character, and the original Uhura. Get her off this episode!
