First and foremost I'd like to point out that although this movie was said to be based on the book "Fear Street: The Prom Queen" by R. L. Stine, it has absolutely no resemblance to the book. The story, setting and names of the characters are completely different from the book. I'm saying this right after finishing the book. If you're gonna make a movie based on a particular book, then the least you can do is make sure the story and the characters stay the same as the book.
Now coming to the movie, it was pure garbage. Unbelievable how such a huge studio like netflix can even come up with such a poorly made movie. Horrible acting by all the actors, poorly written characters and a higly inaccurate portayal of the 80's.
For a movie which is set in 1988, the relationship dynamics shown was similar to a modern society. The men were shown to be total pushovers who literally worship their wives and girlfriends. The women were shown to be evil and selfish who only use and abuse their men. This is not how people behaved in the 80's. The writer/director Matt Palmer clearly has no knowledge of 80's culture.
The killings in the movie were so horribly directed that this whole movie felt like a parody at times. The plot was horrible and the twist was super lame. The book is so much better. Had they stayed true to the book, they could have made a fantastic slasher with a great plot twist.
Overall this is a horribly made movie which has absolutely no resemblance to the source material. The previous trilogy was pretty bad but this movie is straight up horrible. Netflix has successfully destroyed the Fear Street franchise. I think they should refrain from making any further installments in this particular franchise.
