The Brides Wore Blood might be the type of flick some people immediately shut down or give an unusually low rating. But for someone like myself, this 1972 low budget wreck is an absolute delight!
Visually this film is a feast, clearly inspired by Italian gialli of the same era. The antique setting, the bright costumes, the prominent and contrasting colors, and the unique shots of interesting architecture and artwork are almost perfect.
Of course the acting is absurd and the plot purely ridiculous, but with age that produces a nice balance of quirky and creepy - something along the lines of the old people from Rosemarys Baby or the housemother in the first half of Black Christmas 1974.
