What is this trash? William Peter Blatty, author of The Exorcist and Legion wrote this?
The movie is irritating for a full 30 minutes straight, of terrible acting and dumb, inaccurate portrayals of insane people. The men act like children or teenagers trying to get a rise out of adults by pretending to be weird.
And they're mostly extroverted, similar in their expression of instability, which is also stupid because that isn't how this works at all. There should be some catatonia, depression, people who seem quite sane but then tell detailed stories of conspiracies they believe are real, and so forth. Every single patient acts like the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, or like a 20 year old punk from the 70s trying to be offensive to middle class suburbanites.
I cannot believe this has almost 7 stars and is considered some kind of excellent film. TO WHOM, exactly?
