This is worth watching for the fantastic effects and miniatures by the Great Tsuburaya. I don't expect many will find them particularly convincing but they are ambitious and beautiful with a great combination of mattes, models and animation. I don't think the space battles were beaten till Lucas came along. The moon stuff is on apar with George Pal. The destruction by gravity beam of Tokyo is amazing. This is a gem from the golden period of Toho Sci-fi movies.
There are loads of good reviews of this small masterpiece on this site but the thing overlooked is that they did it for peanuts.
After Godzilla Minus One exposed the massive waste and CGI bloat in Hollywood action movies this one does the same thing for comedy. The stated budget is $150,000! Obviously it must have been done without anyone getting paid so we assume most movies can't go this low but if you add reasonable salaries for all participants this is still incredible.
Axel F cost $150,000,000! For a tired rehash
I challenge anyone to do a calculation of cost per laugh or chuckle
Good luck to these guys and I can't wait to see what they do next, hopefully with a bit more cash.

This one runs through some of John's best from his action heyday:
Motorcycle assassins
Stand-offs
Detective with two guns
Loading the shotgun
An absolute stand out tracking up a staircase that obviously echoes the hospital one shot in Hard boiled
Loads of slow motion.
Fluttering birds
If you like John Woo you will love this. Some of the reviewers her don't accept the stylization or the time spent on character set up Woo embraces some newer film technology in the action here. The plot is nonsensical but I loved it. I'm now not so worried about him remaking the Killer in the US
my vote 9/10 just to balanc esome of the haters.
