I was able to see the film at its premiere last night at the Passage Cinemas in Leipzig and it was a really great celebration! After almost 6 years, Stephan has put together a great team again and made a really nice film that you should definitely watch! I'm glad he didn't give up filmmaking after all. There are so many filmmakers in the independent sector who just keep doing the same thing, but nothing really good comes out of it, so I hope to see more from Stephan and his team after this successful comeback. Also a great thank you to the cast for this touching film, it was just great! Its 9/10.
I have been following Stephan Taubert's work for several years and after his last movie "The Power of Dreams" he needed a creative break to find a new project. You have to know that as a freelance filmmaker he always tries to get the best out of very little money and after the great success of his last movie he succeeded again. "Phantom" is a stylish thriller filmed in black and white like old Alfred Hitchcock films, combined with some modern aspects of action, thriller and suspense.
This time the focus is on young reporter Madeline, who is in search of her first big story and is supported by the young commissioner Ben Wagner, who is committed to providing a murderer who has been unknown for years, also from a personal point of view. "Phantom" is one of Stephans best films so far and even though he was sometimes inspired by other films, he has turned for his possibilities an exciting thriller in which you learn only in the last five minutes, who is now the real killer ,
Well done, great movie! Hope he comes out with his work really big. (8/10)
