Even Jared Harris and Sam Claflin couldn't save this movie. I think they're both excellent, but somehow the movie manages to be dull despite both of them doing very well in their roles. Olivia Cooke is forgettable and uninspired as Jane; Erin Richards and Rory Fleck-Byrne do well enough with all the nothing their characters are given to do.
Everyone's complaints about the volume are doing on; I thought it was just me, but the mumbled dialogue followed screaming or bangs are both hackneyed and annoying.
A miss, despite good ingredients and theoretical potential.

Maybe it's because I've seen a lot of bad horror movies lately, but I thought this one was quite good. The whole cast was great, particularly Sofia Lesaffre as Sonia - I thought she was stellar. The acting quality is the best part of the film, but the set and effects were also pretty great. The plot is a little strange, and fell rather flat at the end, but overall there's some good creepy ambience and gore.
You could do far worse picking a movie. If you liked As Above, So Below, or Devil's Pass, you'll probably enjoy this, too.

It's actually pretty funny. It got me to laugh several times. I thought the effects looked pretty good, and the cast wasn't bad - the best was Russell Crous as Kato, who would make a great Patrick Bateman.
The plot isn't particularly original, but yeah - the movie's best selling point is that it's actually pretty funny, thus the 6th star over an average 5. If they'd put a little more effort into the twists of the story, I think it could have been better, but I have seen far, far worse movies than this one.
