Season one was a masterpiece of writing, 80s nostalgia, world building, cinematography, suspense, drama, acting, and creativity. With every season Stranger Things has shed everything that made the series great. The are absolutely no consequences to danger and the only things these characters do well is scream argue disagree cry and lecture each other to no end. Monsters (demogorgons) are less scary, the upside down less mysterious, the military is more inept, and the adults are juvenile. Worst of all the dialog is corny. At this point it doesn't even qualify as a good series for children and rating any episode in this last season above a 3 is laughable.
Overall today's approach to movie making makes you want to pull your hair out. For this movie no doubt the 60s/Jetson's like aesthetic could have worked very very well, but their total addiction to CGI and NPCs ruins it! Aside from that there was absolutely no build up for the villain.. just a quick lazy how did we get here intro for the 4 heroes doing random acts of heroism and an out of no where insert of the bad guy (correction bad woman). Then there's the corny one dimensional AI written dialog on par with most movies today. For the love of God where's the creativity, the world building, the complete 360 story telling, multi-layered character arcs, the timeless musical scores that you can't get out of your head?? Everything that made a theatrical release special has somehow evaporated. It feels like they're just giving us random computer generated visuals to fill time. And the movie industry wonders why no one wants to pay to see their declining inferior product in the theater... it's baffling.
Based on my episode 1 watch... Hollyweird has this gross obsession with children and not in a good way. Putting a child in an adult body is a Ped's futuristic dream. Then look at the people these parentless children are surrounded by and the weird Peter Pan screenings, nothing but red flags! Any normal person would know this is sick and sadistic. Beyond that the world building is stale, the story telling is stale, the CGI is stale, acting is stale, and the casting..OMG just terrible choices. Anyone who watched and admired the original Alien or Aliens follow-up has to be deeply appalled.
