Giancarlo's story was really interesting... and somewhere along the way it turned into an anti-trump anti-evangelical story and lost me. Not because I'm not anti-trump, although not necessarily anti-evangelical, it just seemed like too much of a hit piece. BTW Liberty is really no different than any other college campus when it comes to college boys abusing college women - it's disgusting and should be prosecuted, but it happens everywhere so why through it in? I just didn't get it.
If they had stuck with Giancarlo's story versus Falwell vs Tito etc that would have made a ton of sense. Trump got way too much press.

It was like a cross between the thin red line and a train wreck. The actors were great... the movie is a mess. The director tried to make an art house meets bombshell Shakespeare tragedy. Andrew Dominik should never be given money to make a movie by anyone ever again. I realize that Norma Jean was preyed upon, coveted, and treated like trash by so many, however, the story made zero sense. I understand how they were trying to portray Marilyn, but my god could we have made the story coherent. Thank god it wasn't released in the theaters. The Kennedy scene at the end was unnecessary and grotesque. Ana has been great in everything she's done and was a believable Norma Jean, unfortunately the way the move was edited and written her performance will only be remember for being NC17. What a waste.
The movie kinda holds up. I. Recently rewatched it and maybe I liked it more because it reminded me of my youth or because it was just a fun movie. I watched it with my 8 year old and he loved it. Which is strange because he pretty much doesn't like anything with a made date before he was born.
