I started watching it just with the premise that it was a film with James Spader in a sexualized role. I can't deny that's what attracted me to watch it. For those who like Spader you know that he does this type of role wonderfully well.
Unlike the majority opinion, I don't think this film has an inconspicuous message, it's just a fetish film that escalates to the oblivion.
Contrary to what people tend to think, car fetishes are quite common, but the fetish in these movie isn't just about honking the horn, it's about the twisted metal, the blood that drips down the glass after an accident.
The story doesn't delve into anything depth, but it goes as deep as it can when the subject is fetish.
For anyone who has any type of fetish or has contact with BDSM, you will feel at home with this one.
James spader is an excellent actor and didn't let the film fall into weirdness.
The man was really sexy back in the day.
The movie borders on a porn horror porn exploitation.
It's definitely not a film for everyone and I love it.

No is Iowa.
I can't even explain how much this film affected me. Everything that unfolds throughout the movie is delivered in such a beautiful way. Even with so many subliminal messages, they're still right in front of you - and they touch you in such a powerful, gentle way.
Kevin Costner's performance is beautiful, and his wife in the film is an absolutely delightful surprise. She steals every scene she's in. Earl Jones is wonderful, and what happens to his character... just thinking about it already makes me want to cry.
Actually I cried the whole movie...
I don't know why it took me so long to watch it, and I'm completely in love with it. If you haven't watched it yet, run and watch it. The cinematography is gorgeous, and the story is incredible.
Honestly, it could've been filmed on a cellphone and it still would've been amazing anyway is all about the history.

I've read many Stephen King books and watched all the film adaptations, but this is one book I never read - and honestly, the premise never really appealed to me. Still, I expected a lot more from this movie than what it actually delivered.
The idea is simple: those boys can't stop walking to survive. The premise is better than the reality. In the beginning, there's some tension about what might happen, but in less than twenty minutes the movie already starts to get boring. It becomes slow, dull, uninteresting.
The acting is exaggerated to the point of pulling you out of the story. The casting of the main actor is especially terrible. He doesn't look the age he's supposed to be - around twenty - and his performance is extremely cheesy, over-the-top, almost caricature-like. Several other boys in the cast fall into the same trap. His best friend in the movie does a slightly better job, but not enough to save anything.
There are two or three graphic death scenes that also fall flat, but graphic, because they're dropped in without any real buildup or impact. The friendship among the characters is extremely forced and rushed. They walk more than 500 kilometers together, but you never feel the passage of time - it seems like they become "best friends" in seconds. You just can't buy that friendship as something real.
Maybe the movie does have some deeper meaning behind it - that's entirely possible. But it failed to convey that to me. All it managed to deliver was a dull film, with exaggerated acting.
