Did you watch TheAcolyte? Because if you did, it may have caused irreversible damage to a franchise seemingly big enough to transform multiple generations. Skeleton Crew was fun, adventurous, and hopeful. It is a primary example of expanding the original story beyond its parameters whilst successfully exploring different characters, and different storylines. But there was this constant bad taste in the back of my throat whilst I watched each episode, like I was expecting some sudden twist into the realm of nonsense virtue signalling statement to drop at any moment, perhaps Jude Law would transition into a woman using the force? Or another planet of women witches singing and dancing horribly. But nothing but fun and adventure. Damage done though, the Acolyte was terrible, but I seriously fear that it was so horrible in every way possible that it has actually left a stain deep enough to dirty anything with the words, "Disney & Star Wars". But if you haven't seen the Acolyte - lucky you. Skeleton Crew is excellent.
I just finished the current season, (3). Every episode did very little to drive the main storyline, opting instead for endless tangents which often went nowhere and were forgotten the very next episode. All while the main plot line and story which was developed over the previous two seasons remained stagnant. By the end of S3, a new storyline had been created and this is what was widely used as the focus point. Every now n then a glimmer of horror would present itself, but the creatures only made a few appearances. Overall what started as a fascinating story has become a bit of a mess. It's a shame.
There are just so many things wrong with this movie, I would like to start by highlighting the best part of the film; and that's the visual effects, that's it.
If you watch it, pay attention to the acting of the protagonist, Sophia Boutella. Look at her fight scenes, her facial expressions, and her delivery... It's awful... And the plot is beyond nonsense, even when disbelief has been turned to zero, it's still a degree of nonsense somewhere bellow sh*t... A better use of this film has been by the voluminous YouTube channels who have created reviews articulating precisely how truly awful the film actually is... Boutella ruined Star Trek, The Mummy franchise, and now the Snider-verse...
