  • I was tricked!

I was tricked until the last! At the beginning, I thought that the boy was crazy about his young and beautiful teacher, and he tried to rob her of her lover. However, it was wrong. The reason why this film could trick me is because the director can use sound and structure, in the other words, he or she succeeds in making good atmosphere. I was caught in the cleverly devised trap. Moreover, after watching this film, I re-thought that why I was tricked by the young swindler and the smart producer. After that, I hit upon an idea; it is pureness. In my opinion, youth like the boy never lies because of pureness. That means his action is directly related to what he wants to do. Therefore, I was tricked. Anyway, this movie entertains you, because until the last, the boy's behavior and the atmosphere of this film misleads you, and the last scene betrays your expectation or your prediction.

  • without saying

When I watched this short film for the first time, I wanted to avoid watching it, because the last scene was so grotesque for me. However, I found a brilliant point of this movie at the same time. It's visual telling. Without telling aloud, I could understand core characters' minds and the killer's working class. At the beginning, I sympathized with the man who tried to apply for welfare, because the female office worker treated him roughly. However, at the last, I changed my mind; I sympathized her because of the male killer, and I could not bear the same feeling to the male applicant, because he took some selfish action after the killer appeared. Moreover, trough this film, I could catch what problem gave pain to British people and what kind of them struggled from it, of course, this film told me it with visual materials. To tell the truth, I don't want to watch this film, because it shows an aspect of human being; it is selfish. I don't have a tolerance for the grotesque human characteristic, so I can't stand to watch it. However, some good points is included, so I recommend you to watch it at least one time.

  • The Mouth of Movies

I think the theme of this movie is revival of a family, and who restores the relationship is Jay. He plays an important role. He repairs the relations not only between David and Keiko, but him and his real father. This movie shows us the change from awkward relations to close one without words, with visuals. For example, at the beginning of this movie, we see a shocking scene. It is the shower scene. Although, I think it is needed for this movie, because it shows us the awkward relations between David and Keiko. Moreover, the scene tells us why their relationship is under strain. The movie tells us directly, but we can understand it. Keiko's scars on her belly says the reason. Visuals tell us what the screenwriter wants to say instead of using the actor's or actress's mouth. Pictures play a role of mouth in movies. Lastly, Three Days in Kamakura is good model for us to undertake screen writing, because it tells us how to make people clearly understand story without words, or how to make a movie attractive. When I write a screenplay, I will watch this movie again in order to steal the above ways.
