At the time of writing there are less than 100 ratings for this film and the reviews - the first page or two are nearly all 10 out 10. The Godfather rated ~9, the higest rated film ever - The Shawshank Redemption - rated 9 point something. Only 7 films on imdb rate 9 or over. So I selected a dozen reviews and all but one have posted only 1 review. You get the idea, friends and family have piled in. This is not a hand cam embarassment like so many but the spontaneity and amateurish production and actors don't quite make it watchable. I stuck with it until I just couldn't stand any more desecration of Marianne's character any more. About 20 minutes was my limit.
As with most of the Hong Kong sex comedies, the humour is pitched at a simpleton level that a lover of Charlie Chaplin or Austrian pantomime would find sophisticated. But one the plot is laid out - the most inept of the national spy agents is assigned to find out how a brothel is single-handedly ruining the population planning of the entire country as men no longer want their wives after visiting - the women are introduced. They are frequently naked and frankly put most other - certainly all US - soft core to shame with their beauty. There is a plot of sorts but really infantile and just to induce infrequent soft core sex scenes So terrible film, and nudity from stunning girls.
I must admit to not watching the film past the notary business in the home town, Munchville or whatever it was. Much hilarity however as the three people sat round the table were implied to be at shcool with each other. It was bad enough that the opening scene implied the two leads were the same age whne the guy was like a wrinkled Iggy Pop lookalike and perhaps ten years older than a rather ageing Ms Bure. But then check in the notary women who was getting on for another ten years younger than her - hilarious. And she makes a move on the pensioner with something about haven't seen you since we were at school together. Good laugh but the formula was looking set at the question about whether they were thinking of selling the place, so the total lack of originality did it for me.
