Oh man, I just caught The Last Dragon for the first time-total throwback to '85 that I somehow missed growing up. Jumped in a bit late, but right away, this guy's in his first scrap, channeling full-on Jet Li with those wild yelps, like it's straight-up Afro Karate or whatever you wanna call that funky fusion. Had me cracking up from the jump. Our hero's got it bad for this absolute cutie of a music video VJ he's dead set on saving from some shady creeps-classic swoony vibes, but with heart. It's packed with those little zingers that land just right, nothing forced. What really hit me, though, was how effortlessly it weaves in the laughs, just sly nods that feel real and warm. In a world where comedy's been tiptoeing around that minefield since, like, 2015, this flick's a breath of fresh air. Pure retro charm, corny as hell in spots (those glowy finale bits? Come on), but damn if it doesn't leave you grinning with that old-school energy. Not flawless by a long shot, but watchable as hell-props to whoever dug this gem out of the vault. If you're craving something light, goofy, and unapologetically fun, hunt this down.
I jumped into Chainsaw Man fresh, no prior episodes under my belt. It hooked me quick-sleek animation, punchy soundtrack, that Dolby theater glow made every slash pop. Story's got this sweet, awkward crush at its core; watching Denji stumble after Makima felt real, even if you're not into devils or chainsaws. Fights start clever-gravity flips, blood ballet-but yeah, midway they explode into total mayhem, city-wide craters and all. Loved the callbacks though; opening date gimmick lands way better once you circle back two hours in. Chuckled out loud at some spots. If you're dipping toes from live-action land like me, treat it gentle: anime rules bend harder than ours, sure, but hey-it's theirs.
The trailer spoils ninety percent of the movie. We are really left with scraps after seeing trailer like why? The movie isn't terrible but seriously the audience knows everything that is happening before it was shown for over a whole hour into the film (if they watched the trailer.) The advertising spots were too blatant, seriously eight or more products are being promoted in the most obvious ways. Also there are some very over the top corny moments. To the point that people were laughing when the movie was trying to be serious. Watchable though.
