Our hero had a lapse of good judgment, and with two buddies, robbed a stage. Only he was caught and served three years for robbery. The money was never found.
After serving his time, our hero shows up in his hometown, where it is not really surprising that no local citizen wants to hire an ex-con. So Jim Hardie shows up in town. He was instrumental in catching the young thief three years earlier, but believes in giving the ex-con a second chance.
Our hero has a girlfriend who wants to stand by him, and wants him to have a fresh start. The townspeople seem like villains for being prejudiced against him.
And that's where I am going to stop. Do you think that the instinct of knowing right from wrong is something that can be turned on and off like a light switch? I did not think that what happened here was just an impulsive wrong choice. Can Jim possibly be that naive?

This episode has almost everything. A baby, cavalry officers, Indians on the warpath, stage robbery. It is a marvel that all of this was packed into a 24 minute episode.
The various plots were marginally interrelated. The baby's mom had been killed by Indians. One of the cavalry officers was charged with a massacre of Indians. Of course, no plot thread was developed in detail, but that was not to be expected in a brief episode. In any event, the cast is convincing in their various stereotypical roles, and that is all that is required for an action-filled story.
My only question (and this is known from the beginning) is why the cavalry officers did not have an army escort.
