This is one of the better English history documentaries.
The program does benefit from having historians provide commentary instead of using pop culture figures like many new American documentaries. They add validity to the information and opinions being presented.
The series could have included more episodes because a lot of information was left out. There was literally no mention of how Henry treated his children, other relatives, and living ex-wives. As usual Anne Boleyn, like most shows, was given the most airtime which was disappointing. The stories of the last 3 wives was very brief, if they were mentioned at all.
In general, the production value is high and the show is worth watching.

We love the various "Built America" series, especially the "Titans", but this was the worst documentary on the History Channel we have ever watched. The film was difficult to follow and enjoy because there was too much exaggeration by the commentators, too many abstract details, too many additional historical characters, and too much hate. This is a very agenda driven program that has little to do with educating the viewer on the life of Jim Thorpe. Instead, we were treated to tangents on people, wars, racism, historical events, and even an off the wall analogy with the Titanic.
We stopped watching during the West Point game. The entire West Point story was so confusing because of the unnecessary information included. We had enough.
This was the worst.

This episode really hits home. The circumstances here in the US mirror problems in the UK. Small towns all across the Northeastern Midwest and North East US are dying slow deaths because of the lack of a real community (the loss of local banks, doctors, stores, schools, restaurants, etc.). As Jeremy said, towns are becoming places with only old houses.
Our fertile farmland is being covered by new housing developments, distribution centers, and foodless crops. Drive through the heartland. Illinois is nothing more than "corn and beans". The US can not feed itself.
Excellent episode. I am glad Jeremy has the guts to share this information.
