Having watched this one years ago I recently started watching the American version.... and let's just say this one still stands superior. The comedy and acting in the original UK version is so much better its not even comparable. Sam and Jay (US) are a more loving couple, yet also more anoyying, irresponsible and irritating. Allison and Mike (UK) just have a better comedic chemistry and are also more likable as people, cause they don't do ridiculously irresponsible things to please the ghosts in the desperate and anoyying way Sam does. Speaking of the ghosts, although I do find the main ghost cast in the US version to be very entertaining, the UK crew has so much more comedic charm and wit.

This film started out very promising establishing a specific World in a specific tone, suspenseful, erie and sort of Supernatural. Throughout the first half of the film it continue to build upon the suspense using music and a very intriguing and interesting way. The focus on culture and music and the buildup of it was getting very interesting and entertaining...Just up until Sammy's first musical solo, which started off very smooth and very great...then, for some reason .... girls were twerking at the bar wearing Japanese mini skirts .... this scene took my entirely out of the film and it didn't recover from their ..... the introduction to the vamps was MID AF ... and seeing what's supposed to be the iconic Hailey Steinfeld reveal was just corney and dissapointing.

I saw this film opening weekend.... I was wearing a silver crucifix with a gold Jesus on it .... by the time the credits rolled, the gold Jesus was gone from my necklace.

Mabye it was from me jumping so much...mabye it was a sign.. but this film is exactly what it claims to be.. SINISTER!!! The pacing is very well executed, you really get to know these poor souls even though you already understand what's coming inevitably. Very well done film with scares galore. I'm one of those people who watch horror films ironically just to see how dramatic all the reviews are but this one... this one really got me good.
