Great acting and suspense. Not sure why this movie hasn't gotten higher ratings. I get bored with a lot of films, but this one kept my attention. (Didn't start playing solitaire in the middle of it!) Throughout I was going back and forth with different theories of what was really going on and why. I'll probably watch it again.
Everything about this film screams "LOW BUDGET." It was hard to muster any concern for any of the protagonists. I feel bad for William Devane because he's better than this and even he couldn't overcome the bad writing and direction.
From the very beginning of the movie Billy Zane's character was shallow and unconvincing. I expected more. His interest in protecting his daughter quickly went from helicopter parenting to questioning over the phone as to whether she was sure that she had heard an intruder in their home and suggesting that she hide under the bed. A far cry from her sheriff father rushing to her side to defend her! It seemed like they went with the first take with most of Zane's scenes. His final scene was dreadful.
The leprechaun was more strange than scary. I zoned-out early on.
All in all, not really worth watching.
