A truly repulsive Stalinist political officer is out to get the Mongolian calvary officer Dandar, despite his great contributions to the Mongolian cause. The movie takes place in 1939, when border clashes between Japanese troops and units of the Mongolian People's Army and the Soviet Union. The fighting lasted four months and caused over 20,000 deaths on each side.
The movie has some very interesting scenes, with innovative photography, but strangely switches back and forth between and black-and-white. The English translations are somewhat frustrating, as many of the sentences make no sense at all.
The villain is really detestable.
Overall, and interesting foreign film.

Now that I have your attention, be aware that this movie is about a CARGO SHIP not a PT boat. You may also note there is no historical accuracy, such as uniforms, arms, behavior, etc.
If your thing is math, you will be filled with amazement at seeing the gun on this cargo ship fire on a submarine (close by and low on the water) at a high angle. Somehow they miss, short! I don't think the writer passed trigonometry either.
This is not just the WWII movie with the least understanding of WWII, but the one with the worst acting and writing.
Avoid this if you respect literacy, accuracy, or the spoken word. You've been warned.
