It really captured the essense of Dexter, the actors are tremendous at capturing their characters and their way of talking wow, every single one of them (except Harry maybe) is extremely expressive. I love the unique vibe of Dexter, grim, dark, but a bit upbeat, and its duplicated to the T. Some of the storylines seem a little well too much or very silly, but these are young adults i guess. It starts off a bit awkward but picks up the pace. Dexter as a series really thrives on those nail biting moments that keep you hooked and this was no exception. It was just a fun time all around and was very bingeable.
Its a cute show with adult comedy, quite funny and witty. The characters are loveable especially Virginia. The parents are where the fun is after the will they/won't they ends and its what focused in the later seasons. Strangely it doesn't have much of 'Hope'. I don't think she even says a full line at age 3-4. Seems like they could have done more with the kid. The side characters are fun too. Overall a 8.5 with many 10/10 and 9/10 episodes that are very funny and entertaining. Meemaw is also a favourite, everything with her was gold. Most of the jokes are about them being broke or stupid and the silly situations. Def reccommend. It gets better though i think the third or so ep may be the funniest where they keep getting arrested.
The acting was excellent, even by the kid. I was very creeped out and the atmosphere was pretty on the spot, isolating, cold. Last half does feel weirdly rushed but it was fine, little too blah for really no reason but fine. Stellar psychological horror tho. I found it quite refreshing.
I had quite a few things to complain about but for me if i enjoyed majority of it and it managed to feel like an actual horror movie i am pretty pleased. It had some great jumpcares too. The kid is adorable. The movie has its horror in child abuse and the three leads just nailed it. So ya definitely rec it for anyone who likes horror bcz its hard to come by great acting and great atmosphere. The end isn't much of a rec but its definitely not bad its just something that needs to happen and there is a weird cut.
