How do you go this far in the toilet with a remake? It must not be too hard because here it is. And how does this remake have a better rating than the OG version of Ghostbusters when everybody in the world knows it is further than subpar tripe. There's got to be somebody's thumb on the scale cheating this past one or two stars at it's very finest moments. Read the rest of the reviews you'll see the trend... The more they make these remakes the worst they get generally. Get back to the basics Hollywood, pretty please. Maybe try not being so politically correct and all inclusive for a change.... The harder you try the worse the outcome.
I can't believe how weak of an effort this seems to have been. Costner is absolutely one of my all time favorites, but here i sit 24 hours later and i'm still shaking my head , wondering what the heck i just tried to watch. The entire 3 hours is an incoherent mess to put it simply. I can't recall a single character by name , nor can i even say i loved any of them. Honest, I tried to love it, but i cant even say i liked it. Trust me when i say, save your money and stay home watching old proven flicks. I think I'll now go re watch Open Range and remind myself there is always hope for a better western from Hollywood in the future. .
Very well put together in my opinion, yet very much underrated by many of the reviews I've seen. It's not a film that holds your attention by being flashy and having overly dramatic garbage to sift through. It has a story that is worth listening to. Give it time to develop and pay attention. The characters are all very well portrayed and it's nice to see acting again that is believable. I think if I watch this a second time I will probably pick up on nuances that I've missed the first time around... As with any movie worth watching, it's usually worth watching at least twice. I did enjoy the locations and the scenery as they provided a nice base for the story to unfold upon.
