Fantastic TV spoiled by being something it is not , this show does not require gimmicks to be good the script and usually great acting take care of that.
Unfortunately this cringe-worthy episode has spoiled what I regard to be one the better medical drams on TV at the moment.
Leave the musical type episodes for other shows that specialise in dramedy or just straight out comedy like buffy or the fantastic show scrubs , which did so much better.

I get what the director was trying to do , I get he was trying to feed the audience into the narrative, unfortunately for me it did not work.
To much time spent on the boring parts we all know happen in war , not enough time spent on the French defence of the perimeter or the brutality of what happens to soldiers bombed at the Dunkirk beach, Christ there was not even enough time spent on the politics of the evacuation and the eventual decision to get the French to Britain.
So I get there was probably to much stuff to fit in, or the movie would be three hours long , regrettably Christopher Nolan focused on the banality and in some cases inaccuracy of the situation, rather than a smarter overview of action we had periods in a movie that gave me time to nod off, I had to keep rewinding just in case I misses something. Unfortunately I did not.
Expected so much and the film delivered little.

I know we are meant to suspend belief and use our imaginations , but using your imagination is a two way street and whoever made this has no imagination.
First off the usual PC stuff has to happen , you know mixed race couple , special needs character etc etc , unfortunately makes no difference to the show. The female lead was woeful and do children really get to behave like that in real life ? Does a nanny male or otherwise feel it's okay and sensible to leave an eight year old alone ? You know suspend belief may be part of a viewers credentials but ask us to do it whilst watching a TV show portraying a supposed well to do family with a nanny leaving a child alone, to let strangers in a home is just asking viewers to be stupid. Then we have a parent allowing a child to wonder off compounds the writers stupidity, I can dumb it down but not to that sort of dumb.
Typical fare from this network and will likely get dumped six episodes in, shame as J R Bourne is a good actor and deserves a good platform.
In conclusion a ridiculous plot , woeful acting by some and all from a network that needs to give itself a good shake when it comes to drama based TV shows , because they fall well short of what other networks offer.
