I'll admit that I kind of "half-watched" this one. There isn't anything super special about The Last Straw but it isn't horrible either. Greg is still unlikable, the animation is just like the books and the plot is exactly what you would expect. This is a quintessential 2.5 star animated movie.

I now know what it feels like to see an Avengers movie with 0 knowledge about Marvel. There were many gasps and laughs, where I just didn't understand what was going on. Pretty much, this movie is a giant inside joke and I was on the outside.

I still love Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth Lail, but I hope I don't have to sit through another one of these.

I love how realistically this couple is portrayed. While things go a bit... haywire... near the end, for the most part this film is about a couple trying to navigate life, and their relationship, together. They easily could have cast a woman half Benedict Cumberbatch's age as Ivy, like most Hollywood films. Thankfully they didn't do that, and that's one of the biggest strengths of the film.

Olivia Colman is hilarious, the supporting cast is fantastic (I especially loved Andy Samberg) and the California coast has never looked more like the UK.
