Look, I get the general appeal of KB, but this was the Beth Grant show for me.
Whenever she was on screen, it got grounded and had gravitas.
KB was often so busy doing his schtick that he felt disconnected to the character.
Just another smiling dufus who's gotten by on charm and looks for so long he doesn't realize the actual mess he's in.
It's a perfect fit for KB. But it would be nice to see him in something else. He used to make interesting and layered performances.
The rest of the cast is all along the spectrum from good/fair to did they really cast these folks to avoid anyone else distracting from KB.
The ex wife and the lady who works for the bad guy were styled so similarly that a major plot point got kinda lost as it was hard to tell who's who.
KB's boss was played with aplomb, even if it was an underwritten part.
But the actors cast as the son and the principal bad guy were fairly sad.
The son seemed to have been given a single direction: be soft and don't draw too much attention.
The bad guy wasn't much, as an antagonist, or as an actor doing a performance. Admittedly, he had a virtually nonsensical part to play with muddy motivations and a very one note sort of performance.
I suspect that both of them, as well as the rest of the supporting cast, are capable. But the script lets all of them down, outside of Ms. Grant.
It is too much the KB show and whatever foolishness he's gotten up to.
Not interested in a repeat viewing or a second season if this gets one.
Seven stars are all for Beth Grant and her magnificent performance.
