I can only hope there are no real life Spencer's with his fragile masculinity, narcissism, and really bad hunting skills walking this earth. The only reason I made it through two episodes is Helen Mirren whom is a class act no matter what film she's in. As a fan of IMDB, after two episodes I visited this site and decided from reading the user reviews to not watch anymore of the series. Yellowstone was good until Sheridan entered as an actor, another narcissistic jerk who seems to think men with superior attitudes are cool, when really, that behavior makes most mature women's skin crawl. Egotistical, self centered men, and especially those with a cruelty streak should not be spotlighted as the norm. Also, once reading the many, many reviews regarding porn (just women, I'm sure) and long drawn out scenes of graphic, brutal violence against women, I choose not to give that garbage my energy. Methinks someone could use some real life therapy regarding what he deems entertainment.
Though a fan of Mirren and McDowell, what a bad movie. I had seen the original when it was released, but only recalled a couple of scenes, so opted to watch this rereleased director's cut. Now I know why I didn't remember the movie...because it's forgettable and a snoozer. Caligula's story is a fascinating one, but not in this over the top, but boring movie. There are glimpses of McDowell's truly exceptional acting that would have been better served in a less comical and corny endeavor. John Gielgud was perfect, Peter O'Toole not so much. The whole movie was like watching a filmed stage play where the director can't yell cut and do-over. Too bad. And I expected better porn.
It's just a whole lot of nothing. The acting is awful, the camera angles are senseless and there is hardly a plot, no climax, no continuity other than scenes of people running from one end of the beach to the other. I ended up fast forwarding through it and still couldn't wait for it to end. And nobody got very old. I was expecting scary, dried up old monsters...or something...anything, please. The shiny thing on the hillside wasn't explained, though it was easy to figure out who that was; and the things from the hotel buried in the sand went no further than being discovered. And many of the conversations were ones people would never have. Glad I didn't have to pay for this one.
