It may be one of the strangest premises for a show you could find, but somehow it works. I love Louis Anderson as Christine Baskets. Also loved watching Chip try to get his life on track and develop into a better son and a better friend for Martha.
I read some complaints about Zack Galafanakis as Chip lacking character development but I don't think that could be further from the truth. Watching him grow and understand his mother better was heartwarming.
I also loved what this show did with minimal course language and sexual content. I created funny through the awkwardness of human connection.

The village, scenery and people are just so likeable. You want to be part of their community. I love the simple stories, the humour and the taste of the Scottish Highlands in each episode... I also love the Westie, Wee Jock.
The humour (and I use that term lightly) was very dated. The Canadian stereotypes and accents were annoying. Mike Meyers doing every character was weird. I just couldn't appreciate this show. I gave it 3 stars simply because there was a time when Mike Myers' humour was funny, but this was just cringey and gross.
