  • A Heartfelt, Hilarious, and Wholesome Escape

I went into Summer Camp expecting a light comedy, but what I found was something much deeper - a truly memorable, mindful, and beautifully human story that stays with you long after the credits roll. This film is more than just a feel-good romp. It's a celebration of lifelong friendship, reinvention, and the quiet healing that happens when laughter, nostalgia, and truth collide.

First and foremost, Kathy Bates is simply divine in this film. There's something so grounding and real about her presence - she commands every scene not with force, but with the gentle power of someone who's lived, loved, and learned. Her timing is flawless, and her comedic delivery is both dry and delicious. But beyond the humor, she brings soul. There's a tenderness in her performance that hits you in the chest when you least expect it.

The plot, which follows a group of women who reunite decades later at their beloved childhood summer camp, could have easily slipped into cliché or slapstick. But it doesn't. Instead, it's handled with care. Every moment is infused with humor that's clean but clever, and themes that feel surprisingly relevant - aging, regret, forgiveness, self-worth, and the enduring need to feel seen and heard. You don't need a heavy hand to deliver depth, and Summer Camp proves that.

The supporting cast is delightful - each character brings their own flavor, and there's a true sense of ensemble chemistry. The friendships feel lived-in, the jokes land without being mean-spirited, and the emotional beats never feel forced. There's a sense of mindfulness to the pacing and tone - it's a movie that lets you breathe, reflect, and laugh, all at once.

Visually, the film leans into the charm of nature and nostalgia. The camp itself is like a character - with lake scenes, cabins, campfires, and late-night laughter under the stars. You're instantly transported. It's comfort food for the soul.

Perhaps what I loved most is the message: that it's never too late to rediscover joy, face your past, and reclaim the parts of yourself you may have buried. Whether you're in your thirties or your seventies, Summer Camp reminds you that growth never stops and laughter is timeless.

If you're looking for something positive, heartfelt, and refreshing - something that honors both the silliness and the seriousness of being human - Summer Camp is your movie. Watch it with friends, with family, or just with yourself on a night when you need a good smile and maybe a little cry. And trust me - you'll be booking a cabin and texting your oldest friend before it's over.

  • This could have been great but it's not

There's an issue with some of this "story telling" I lost any and all respect for Mr. Sheridan, on this show. The sexual abuse and the torture sexually is not needed to be shown nor depicted... Landman is an amazing show, but this, This made me so upset I will stop watching and never watch any of his stuff again. What happened to classy story telling.i don't need to hear it's " what went on" it's what goes on today as well that does not make it right. I know people love this guy but right now he might as well be the writer director of Last Tango in Paris... trash ruined it for me...

    Totally disappointed me.
