Season 1 was really good and covered a lot of the core elements of the game. I liked season 2, albeit with caveats. I am glad that they managed to include parts of the backstories, especially the museum. But there was a lot of story, especially contextual elements which was left out. They could have done a more detailed story which would have pleased more people if they actually did 10 episodes. Alternately, they could have tightened things up to include more. But I suppose that doesn't fit the economics which will result in more seasons with fewer episodes, however that works. There are points in the story where it's clear that I was watching filler. That being said, they could have replaced some of the filler with story elements of the game. As with season 1, some of the changes in season 2 are understandable but it's a bit of a wash because there are also some things in the game which are better. Basically, I hadn't seen as many changes in season 1 which I disagree with as I do with season 2. That and the obvious filler give an understanding of why some people dislike season 2. But I think that the good in season 2 outweigh the negatives. I still like the series and will return when the next season comes out, whenever that will be. In the meantime, I think that I will rewatch the game movies.
Although it would be passable as a standalone movie, it's problematic that the connections to the other Tron movies are so tenuous. It actually conflicts quite a bit with the previous movies. The visuals, music, acting and overall story were OK but I don't see it as a good continuation of the Tron Franchise. It doesn't flow well from either previous movie. I also criticize what happened to the main villain and the mid-credits scene. The powers that be wanted to bait us for a sequel which may not happen.
It has so many problems. Acting, dialog, construction, effects are all bad. There was no point in this movie where anything looked or sounded correct. It seems like there was no effort to make the tech look real. The computers didn't even look real for the 60's. The supposed submarine hatch was secure by inserting a lid and clicking a couple of latches. The people descended via a Home Depo style folding ladder which was just leaned against the bulkhead. Nothing looked watertight and there was a bunch of stuff loosely laying around. It's clear that there was no research into how things are handled in a sub. The dialog was very bad. And ultimately, there was no entertainment value nor any meaning.
