When you go into watching ANOTHER superhero movie, at this point in life, I want to see something different. Typical Marvel movies have been following the same formula and it worked then but now it's tired. Kraven to me felt different than their usual. He's nearly an anti-hero like how Venom is, so seeing him and where he's come from, was intriguing. And props to Russel Crowe! The guy has made me so skeptical these days, he's been picking odd stuff for the past 10 or so years so I wasn't sure how i felt seeing him on the roster. But he carried his character as the tough, abrasive dad, REALLY well. Aaron Taylor-Johnson....my god, he is quite fine indeed. But also I think he was the perfect fit for the character. He's not so white bread like, he can come across as being Russian without it seeming forced. I'm interested in reading the source material and looking more into his character.
Do you want to see a true suspense film? No horror or gore genre, not even detective, which is really saying something. The way Anna Kendrick wove together the past, present, and future was a masterful way to sustain the suspense throughout especially in the present (aka with Cheryl the main character). Additionally, the camera shots were just *chefs kiss*. Watching from his perspective, the sun and breeze shining in his victim's hair, the way the face looked beneath the water surface, etc It provided these interesting, simple shots for the viewer to gaze at. I'm wondering if the killer is saying in those moments, "this is what girls are for".
I don't watch like a hundred fake pregnancy films like seemingly most reviewers on here...lol so I found all these things hilarious and new. And i appreciated that they talked about post-pregnancy, like how a woman can feel. Because idk it's not like a normal person watches a lot of videos and reads articles about all that, all we have to go off of is culture and what our friends and family says. And they were right in the film when they say that people don't talk about the bad side of pregnancy enough. They make you think it's supposed to be all roses while and after your pregnant and that's just not reality. Woman go through way too much in a short time and I just felt like this movie was realistic, honest, and laugh out loud funny.
