I'll always enjoy Martin Short in anything he's in BUT ... the new season of Match Game, a gameshow I've loved for years, that's always had clever, witty writing, has gone down the toilet. WHAT HAPPENED? EVERY question in this season premiere was just AWFUL. The writers left no lead in to the expected clever comedic response. Don't they understand the assignment????? And, I get it, they can't have Alec Baldwin back because of the whole murder thing. So ya, maybe Martin Short didn't want to come out, a-hem guns-a-blazen (pun intended) with PG13 "improvised" innuendos. BUT COME ON! If the rest of the season is like this, it's THE END for Match Game.

All these high ratings are really generous. I guess maybe if you're looking for a soapy female cop drama with absolutely zero grit, suspense or story then this is for you! You know there's a reason Law and Order SVU has been successful for well over 20+ years. The creators of this snoozefest should have watched a few episodes of SVU and sponged some of its mojo because THIS long drawn out and predictable waste of time should have been a 90 minute Lifetime movie, NOT an 8 episode series. I like Amanda S. So I'm thinking it's got to be the writing and directing. What a waste of talent. Watching paint dry is more entertaining.

I'm totally sold on this sassy sitcom! The only criticisms I have is the constant cringe canned laughter which diminishes the cleaver writing. And it tries a little too hard. These two negatives could potentially get this fun golden girls-esque show cancelled, which would be unfortunate. The casting is perfection and the performances and chemistry flow seamlessly. If it put more faith into these aspects it COULD go the distance. It's great to see Linda Lavin! Her reveal is spectacular and she looks AMAZING! Matt Bomer is ADORABLE! And Nathan Lane is CLASSIC Nathan Lane! Evan the sets and theme song are great!
