This series has exceeded my expectations so far .
I have watched the first three episodes and as an avid reader and watcher of fantasy books films and series what this series does for me is give me the same thrill I get from reading and that is rare.
I love the pace ..the journey ...which is so in keeping with the style of Tolkien .
The characters ...flawed but strong ,gentle and dutiful curious and playful but you know they will stumble hobbit like in to... the struggle of good and evil within middle earth Then you feel the festering evil ever present ...plotting , destruction and domination.... All set with stunning scenery, what's not to like.
My only complaint is I wish they had just released all the episodes at once instead of weekly.

Lets start by saying... I'm enjoying the show. Its a typical but good storyline and nicely paced, for these lockdown days!!
The casting is good and everyone plays their part well including Daveed Diggs (ignore the flurry of bad comments about him) I was suspicious and was proven right. His acting is absolutely fine for the part (its not Shakespeare we're watching) and he's on par with the other actors.
My only criticism is that I feel, they could delve a little deeper into the characters' backstories, just so we understand what motivates them or at least care a little more for them (or not) as individuals, rather than they're just either rich spoilt brats, poor and angry or creative and decadent.I feel or hope they may do this in season two of which I'm on episode one and that brings in a nice surprise in terms of an actor. there is scope for it to grow but I hope they conclude it in maybe four seasons max

I nearly didn't watch it because of the awful reviews on this site.
I"m glad I have learned to use my own discrepancy .
I've seen all the original films and read the book.
So I had an idea what to expect.
I wanted a bit of fantasy and escapism. The Secret garden is comforting and familiar territory .
Beautiful scenery, good acting nice familiar storyline.
it was exactly what I needed during this miserable Covid-19 time.
Please ignore the ridiculously negative reviews and snuggle down and with it for yourself.
