Most of the time there is this stream of conciousness dialog going on with multiple characters that sounds improvised. But it's all drivel and not remotely entertaining. All surface and no real center; i gave up after about 30 - 40 minutes. And i love quirky films!
The danny devito character has hints of Frank Reynolds, off It's Always Sunny, but without Frank's outrageous humor. Pine should have picked a behind the camera role, or an in front of the camera role, as he is too self indulgent when trying to do both.
My advice is to just skip this one altogether, and watch The Big Leboski again.

Great scenery, and a decent sense of place. Unfortunately, John thaw just calls in his performance, with lots of face pulling and yelling. Lindsay Duncan is much better, but isn't given a lot to do. The French locals are drawn too broadly, and are actually a distraction when on-screen. Still an enjoyable watch though, for the settings and scenery.
