Napoleon is one of those names that pretty much everyone heard. History tells us many things about him, and I'm sure that what you know about this man also depends on where you were at school and how much you cared about history.
The thing is that history is a narrative controlled by winners. After all, those who lost the battle did not stay to tell their version of the story. With exceptions, we don't usually know what was in their minds when they were about to lose. We celebrate the victorious and tend to ridicule those who despite doing their best... lost.
What I mean by all of this is that I usually take a documentary with a grain of salt. And when a movie tries to also be a documentary, well... I just expect to be entertained. The fact that it is Ridley Scott directing it is (for me) a good thing. I usually enjoy his work.
The movie tried to show something that the history books did not bother much to show all of us: the man that Napoleon was. During the movie, I just followed the narrative, what was being shown to me. With this simple exercise, I could marvel with the luxurious scenes, the battles and most of all with the story of a man who loved France and Josephine deeply; all historians recognise this important part to be true.
A movie is not supposed to be a history book but sometimes it can make us think about what matters the most in life. Napoleon and this movie tell us what it is.

Ending such a great series would never be easy. Most fans would like to see something more and probably would write themselves countless different scenarios. With such an intimidating task at hand, I feel like the end result is a good one. Yes, it could have been better but... come on, it is indeed a good one. The film is a must-watch by those who followed the series; those who don't know what Downton Abbey is will probably not enjoy as much, even though it is an entertaining film in itself. However, this episode/film is for us, the ones who know the story and the characters. Who want to say goodbye in a nice and positive way. The film is a well written melody and the family will surely not be forgotten. Thank you for a great time watching a family that, in so many ways, feels like my own too...
How many times have you watched a movie just to see what a great cast can do together? Probably not that long ago. Well, it's time to do it again.
Last Vegas is a story about friendship, the real kind. The kind that spans decades, that's been tested by time, and still has plenty left to give. You'll smile, maybe even laugh out loud. It makes you reflect. It reminds you of the good old days, and more importantly, that life is meant to be enjoyed. To be truly lived!
Sure, with age comes experience, and maybe we make fewer reckless choices... and that's a good thing. Who really wants to be young forever? What should stay young is our spirit, our drive to live fully and have fun!
This is a feel-good film in the best way. It's warm, light-hearted, and easy to enjoy. Watch it when you get the chance; it might not change your life, but it'll make your day. And sometimes, that's more than enough.
