  • Watch it if you want light entertainment

The starting seemed promising. Then it turned into another ceo-employee love story trope. In fact this drama is full of tropes. Yet I was attracted to binge-watch because of the way it was carried on. Overall it was a good watch because of the good acting from the actors and the first episode was fire imo, otherwise the plot details might be found in other kdrama.

The ml who had to maintain a hardened shell of maturity, concealing his inner marshmallow, Choi Hyun Wook portrayed the character so perfectly. The straightforwardness and rudeness of the fl was annoying sometimes. Apart from one big misunderstanding between the leads (about the first love thing), other misunderstandings were quickly resolved which was a likeable thing. The only stressful thing was the grandma who was a plain evil, submerged in her own sorrow and goals, giving unnecessary hard time to a child who just lost his parents. Her actions were not just redeemable and that last arc of her character couldn't save her in my eyes.

  • Fresh and Unique but Not Perfect

To enjoy it you have to have a super broad mind and willingness to accept new ideas. As someone who has never read or watched any omegaverse content before, it truly is a refreshing experience to watch. A complex yet enjoyable concept. As I did not have prior knowledge about the omegaverse, I struggled a bit to understand what was going on, but as I rewatched it and read the novel, I instantly got hooked.

The locations, the sets, the costumes, the visuals - everything is such an eye-feast to watch on the screen. Since the story revolves around a fictional gender system, it is bound to become controversial, face criticisms and have less viewership.

(Edited after finishing the show, originally reviewed after 4 episodes)

What started as a great story with immense potential to break stereotypes ended up being a disappointment because of bad directing, messy editing and dubbing, and poor scriptwriting.

While the novel was good to read, the drama is sadly not well executed. Adaptations should take creative liberties to adjust structure, dialogue, or character arcs and a thoughtful balance between staying true to the source and embracing cinematic strengths makes the story more interesting for viewers. But creators obsession to blindly follow everything from the novel without polishing things up has been a missed opportunity. They failed to capture the pacing and emotional nuance needed for visual storytelling.

The first half focused on Hua Yong weaving the webs of lies and the intricacies of manipulation to win Sheng ShaoYou, while the second half was rushed with lots of things happening. Also, they failed to balance out the story of two couple parts with one cp story being left underdeveloped.

Another important thing is the lackluster acting of the "visually stunning" actors. The actors often seemed extremely awkward or stiff and it didn't get better. Although imo directors are to blame for this, since except for Wenlang (Ocean, whose acting continued to give me secondhand embarrassment but I couldn't fast forward because he's a pivotal character to the story), all the other main actors have demonstrated their acting talents from time to time (eg: Hua Yong (Eliot) as the master manipulator, Sheng (Kipuka) in ep8, Gao Tu (Li Pei En who despite the limited screen time, has blown up the internet) in ep 9&16 - were phenomenal. It seemed like their acting skills were not utilised enough. Also, Eliot and Kipuka who have strong off-screen chemistry wasn't effectively brought out onscreen.

We got to see the first ever proper omegaverse bl, onscreen mpreg. But with lots of imperfections that were avoidable. Perhaps because it was the first project of Nong-Jian sisters and them handling almost everything in this drama from being the writers to directors, this show was completely amateurish. This show is far from perfect but since it is the first attempt to bring omegaverse genre into life, I am giving it a 7.

  • Intense!

Weak Hero Class 1 was refreshing to watch. While Class 2 maintained the essence, it became darker and the fighting scenes became more intense and ruthless.

This season, they gave a whole new meaning to the Newton's third law which was funny. Si Yeon's time with Beom Seok was the most heartfelt scene for me in the WHC-2. The typical element of any k-drama: hitting by a truck was unnecessary imo (haven't read the manga idk if this was there as well). On another note, in season 1, they always made sure to pick up their bags after finishing fighting. In season 2 however, they seem to be frequently forgetting their bags lol.

Overall I will give this drama a 9 out of 10. This is a really enjoyable exciting kdrama that took the meaning of friendship to another level. A kdrama I have been suggesting to everyone who isn't into kdrama.

A note to the creators- please don't make it into a bl series.
