I just finished watching this an hour ago, and liked it a LOT! I've only known John Cho from his work in the Star Trek reboot, and it was great to see him really flexing his acting muscles in a very different kind of role. If you've read the plot summary, you'll know he plays a widow whose teenage daughter goes missing, and the film devotes itself to the investigation that follows, and how it concludes.

Cho does a fine job of showing his character's increasing frustration, and his intense commitment to getting to the truth. That truth comes (semi-spoiler here) after several well-crafted misdirections the film throws at us. You'll have several "Oh! I get it now!" moments, followed later by "Oh, wait! Wow!" moments. You'll go back an forth throughout the film on who did what and why, thinking you have it figured out, until the truth is revealed.

I definitely recommend this one.

There really aren't words sufficient to accurately describe just how stupid this movie is. A comedy is supposed to be funny, but this isn't. The most I did was chuckle, slightly, at a couple of sight gags. The rest of the time was spent wondering what possessed Ellen Barkin and Pierce Brosnan do it. Boredom and needed something to do? Wanted an easy paycheck?

Adam Devine's character, the husband-to-be, is a complete idiot. A character like that can be played well and made worthwhile, but that didn't happen here. He's such a buffoon it's hard to imagine Nina Dobrev's character marrying him.

Spare yourself the agony of watching even a few minutes of this dreck.

I found myself every few minutes think, "OK, that's from (one of the movies I listed above)."

In the absence of all these other films, Rebel Moon could be seen as a pretty good sci-fi/action/adventure film. Unfortunately, I could not get past recognizing plot devices and tropes used so may times before. For example, one critical role in this film is Jimmy, a sentient robot that develops real emotions, a sense of loyalty, and even a spiritual side. He just has too much of a resemblance to Sunny, from "I, Robot" and K2SO from "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story". Oddly enough both of those 2 were voiced by Alan Tudyk.

Are there no original story ideas anymore?
