I had higher hopes for this movie. Lame is the best way to describe it. And unrealistic. No airport announcements are anyway shape or form the way
it was portrayed in this film. It made the movie unfunny. I was cringing as the movie went along. The writing wasn't good and the premise while it could have worked with different writing and no fake airport announcements just did not work. Jokes weren't funny. Honestly I couldn't see these two characters in a relationship. They had nothing in common whatsoever. I didn't understand the ending and as soon as the credits rolled I hightailed it out of the theater wishing I could get a refund.
I loved everything about this from the background music which heightened the mood to the acting and the tension they built in heightened scenes all the while having fun along the way! Gillian Jacobs was outstanding as the real life Mary Jane Gold as was Cory Michael Smith as the real life Varian Fry. I read criticism that said this mini series wasn't historically accurate. I say who cares! It was entertaining and I throughly enjoyed it and I've read enough historical fiction from WW2 to find it believable. Don't listen to the naysayers. Watch and decide for yourself. I also need to mention all the actors did a superb job. I also liked Lucas Englander & Ralph Amoussou roles!
