I was prompted to watch this by people in my work talking about it and the violence within.
As someone that does like a good gangster movie and does not mind violence I felt this was for me, however, I am now on episode 6, series 1 and feel, the violence is being used to cover the poor storyline and multitude of sub plots. I have just watched a military style operation going after a gypsy lad and his father, hauled up in a wee quaint country house, with some wee woman that I perceive makes weapons\artillery in her basement. They are able to fight off and kill the military style operation by pulling a lever and converting said country house into fort know.....what is going on???
I will probably not see this series through to the end, due to this and the chaotic....a gang from a different ethnic group round every corner.
And, guy that plays Sean, is too posh, he should be a geezer.

Throughout this excellent drama, my Hope and aspiration for the outcome varied.
From the off I felt as anyone should, feel for the mother(brilliantly acted by Kelly MacDonald) and wanted the victim to call for leniency on her.
This was not to be and what I had thought to be the worst outcome played out, however this turned out to be a heartbreaking rollercoaster for everyone concerned.
This is a must watch, with fantastic emotionally charged acting and script writing.
One review on here encapsulated this and many other real life harrowing stories with the review title "Hurt people, hurt people" how very appropriate to life.
As for the low scoring reviews based on camera work, get yourselves a life. Whilst you are all pretentious, you are not movie critics, which you obviously aspire to be, says me, writing a critique.
Watch the drama, it is outstanding.
