  • "It's not dark. It's like a thousand suns."

It was a decent prelude to a return to street-level vigilante territory, but the question remains: was it a worthy successor?

As a fan who was genuinely afraid of getting an overly dramatic and misunderstood imitation of the original series, you can understand my worries going into this. You could even say I was upmost judgmental while watching the show. But even when I try to view it with an impartial mind, I can't help thinking-it could've been better.

The actors did a great job slipping back into the shoes of the characters they portrayed so well, and their acting shines in this melodrama. But perhaps it was inevitable that, after being fully introduced into the movie universe, the characters would become more 'cartoonized.' I've watched their gradual integration through cameos in other media, but it still doesn't feel like a natural fit. Even in its overly compensation with its rating and gruesome scenery. The spark in it's initial grounded take is lost, and the story now feels stuck in a purgatory between the grittiness of the Netflix projects and the fantastical world of the MCU. Maybe the rewrites are to blame, but anything close to a brand new story progression is cut short in favor of catching up with previous storylines. In the end, rather than coming altogether, the elements of the story feel as if nothing more than buildup.

  • A Pretty Cute Little Closure

    "This isn't over yet!"

Talking about the final episode of the series; it was a pretty cute little closure story after the emotionally hitting story finale.

Though it may feel overly silly in tone, the emotion a series ends with is what truly matters and what people remember it by.

In this case, we're reminded of the joyous adventures and ruckuses these characters go through in their short run, and those are the emotions of theirs that will echo after the very end.

Even if they don't always appeal to me, i appreciate the soft aftermath stories for the fans, just like a little farewell from the tale itself.

  • I can't stress enough how much people seem to be liking this adaptation

"Hope does not come without a cost."

After years of waiting and anticipation, the new adaptation of our childhood animation hit has arrived, and it bears many of the issues we were concerned about.

So far in the initial first season; the story feels rushed, the approach to the story is bland, the visual effects are jarring and the dialogue isn't that great. I can't stress enough how much people seem to be liking this adaptation, but after the Shyamalan disaster it might be understandable what we'll have to settle for.

I can only hope that it improves from its initial starting point and finds its balance with its cartoony origins and distinctive serious tone.
