This movie feels like the modern day equivalent of A Goofy Movie just replacing the 90s references with internet references and of course the robot uprising which I felt like a movie like that could have been made but not in the way I was expecting. This is genuinely a new favorite of mine. Sony Pictures Animation really have surprising these past couple years and I look forward to whatever comes next.
The more I think of this, this movie feels like a Chicken Little story done better but it's set in Colombia and it's a musical. Not exactly like that movie, although it's oddly convenient that Maribel and Chicken Little have green glasses. But both want to prove they're better despite their flaws but Maribel at least has people who love her unlike Chicken Little.
I never thought I would use these two things in a statement but...
Pixar has made a better version of Big Mouth with appealing looking characters, a well written script, actual clever humor (the most in any Pixar movie and done by a woman nonetheless) all within 90 minutes than in 5 to 6 seasons and I mean it.
