The set designs & props, are amazing, but, it IS low caliber, cheesy, campy, but, it moves along, and isn't so flat it's unwatchable. The Monkey "King", doesn't act monkey like, or king like at all. He just acts like an odd, ego centrical god. But the series grows on me. The characters are likeable, some more than others. This is very similar to other fantasy "trekking", series I've seen, like SAGA - Curse of the Shadow (2013) & L. O. R. D: Legend of Ravaging Dynasties, which I thought were a few notches better than this one, but all 3 are watchable, for a just a story come to life. It's not so terrible that I had to forward through any of it. The mercenary boy, in this series, is an outstanding actor for his age, & acts more mature, than virtually all the adults in the film.
