  • Unjustifiably Violent and Dangerous

Given the outbreak of street knife violence in our cities, if this series must be screened, it should be after 11 pm when children are asleep. Every day we read and see more killings and knife crime by and to children and this series glorifies it. School kids taking knives into schools is a real problem.

The "dark comedy" is overpowered by horrific violence.

What may be acceptable in a book should not be shown in such detail on screen. The Director of Sweetpea has lost all sense of proportion.

The only good thing is Ella Purnell's performance. The character transformation from Episode 1 to 2 is amazing. She plays a school girl to a grown woman who all her life is bullied and put down. Invisible to all around her.

She screams: "Can you see me now? Can you see me now?" Yes, you can on TV in your living room.

  • Crisis Hotline

A mystery take on a sex crime we regularly see in the news and we should all be aware of.

The movie is well acted and has good revised production values. The new title, "Shadows in Mind" is too poetic to attract the wide audience the film deserves.

Gay and straight. Male and female. Young and old. Under different circumstances It could happen to anyone. I found the film on Prime Video. It's a mistake to limit it to the Prime LGBT category even though the central love story is between two men.

The movie atmosphere reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock's Rope. It could have been adapted from a stage play but here it is not confined to one room. The other scenes are well used to keep you interested and try to work out what is actually going to happen. It's a slow burn with no violent action but the ending is worth waiting for.

  • VILE: unpleasant, immoral, and unacceptable

In the 18th century Bedlam changed from a hospital and became a sideshow. People came to London and paid to watch the mentally ill.

In the 21st century Hollywood has reinvented this kind of horror show.

The makers of Blonde have made a vile, disgusting, unbalanced fiction about a real person who had a tragic childhood and dressed it up as a feminist lecture. It is amazing that anyone who suffered such an abusive early life could have reinvented herself and become a world wide star and icon. When she was "not well" instead of getting the medical help she needed Blonde was physically and mentally abused and fed alcohol and drugs so that she could continue to make money for the studios. Credit to star actors who turned down the role of Blonde having read the script.

BREAKING NEWS: Jan 2023 Blonde, has received the most nominations for this year's Razzies with eight nominations. It is up for worst picture and worst screenplay, while Andrew Dominik is up for worst director, and is named in the worst screen couple category. Blonde,is described by the Razzies as a film "movie-goers liked even less than critics did". Filter the reviews by 1 star ratings to see how true this is.
