I was excited seeing Hirose playing the Japanese version of Nami. I really thought this remake would at least do the original movie justice unlike other hollywood remakes of asian movies.
However, I don't think this remake was intended for international audience. it's more like they're making this for Japanese audience only.
There's so many memorable scenes in the original movie that's just plain and boring in the remake. and the ultimate no no for me was when they change the sunny soundtrack into an unknown Japanese song (at least to me) and came up with a lame dialogue for them to explain why they chose Sunny as their gang name.
but then again, I'm not much of a Japanese drama fans. and I'm seeing the remake with the original movie goggle.
So if you're into Japanese dramedy and you haven't watched the original. Watch this first and then the original that way you'll be less disappointed. That's what I did with My sassy girl. i watched the hollywood version and thought it was great, then I watched the Korean (original) version and JAWDROPPED IT WAS A FAR BETTER MOVIE.
