"Straw" is a laudable, gripping, and unforgettable cinematic experience. It's not just a movie; it's a visceral journey into the heart of desperation, showcasing the raw, unfiltered reality of a single mother facing the worst day imaginable.
The film masterfully portrays the cascading effect of misfortune, where one devastating event triggers a chain reaction of setbacks, leaving the protagonist clinging to survival.
The phenomenal performance at its core truly sets "Straw" apart.
The emotional depth and vulnerability displayed are breathtaking, drawing the viewer into the character's plight with an almost unbearable intensity. The pacing is relentless, mirroring the relentless pressure the protagonist endures, keeping you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.
Tyler Perry's direction is bold and uncompromising, refusing to shy away from the harsh realities of poverty, loss, and the lengths people will go when pushed to their limits.
The flick isn't merely entertaining; it's a powerful exploration of resilience, resourcefulness, and the human spirit's capacity to endure even in the face of unimaginable hardship.
"Straw" will stay with you long after the credits roll, prompting reflection and compassion.
I highly recommend it.

This flick had potential but was torpedoed by poor research, laziness, and ignorance.
From the onset, the seasoned crew constantly mispronounced the familiar South Carolina port city of Beaufort (pronounced "Buefert").
The Coasties were slobs wearing knockoff uniforms from China or the dollar store. The Captain (the dude with four bars on his shoulder) was a disgrace to the Coast Guard, noticeably the rat-nest hair over two inches longer than regulation.
The so-called Coast Guard station in Charleston displayed the American flag but did not have the required Coast Guard Standard.
FF was my friend as I surfed and endured it with a few cold ones.
I pressed three stars for its Sharknado nostalgia and plastic sharks.

To view such poor acting, horridly overweight slobs, and shabby Army/Navy store uniforms made this a difficult watch.
Just a poor bore that did nothing for the stock of Madsen. I am certain this is one that he would prefer to throw into the La Brea Tar Pits and never mention again.
Reminiscent of Middle School dialogue shoveled back and forth between kiddos, this flick became more comical as it pressed toward its conclusion.
Absent emotion, the plot was ridiculous. If you decide to endure it, as I did, smoke a few first to ease the pain and suffering.
I need to type a few more characters to meet the minimum limit, so to fellow grunts, just pull the pin, hold tight, and take a knee.
