  • There is nothing strange, darling!

This film is vastly overrated. Despite its ambition, the story, a simple, overused one, is stretched thin, padded with every cinematic trick available. It bombards us with slow motion, repetitive music cues, and heavy-handed emphasis, all trying to inject meaning where there is none. These techniques feel less like intentional choices and more like desperate distractions, misleading the audience into thinking there's depth here.

The story's structure, split into six chapters presented randomly, seems like a hollow gimmick designed to mask an otherwise formulaic plot. It rehashes serial killer tropes with gratuitous explicit content added purely for shock value. The result is an exercise in style over substance, an attempt to make superficiality look profound.

What's especially frustrating is that the actors are not to blame; in fact, their talent is entirely wasted in this mess, like flushing a toilet with the finest champagne. These performances deserved a more compelling narrative but were squandered on a film that chose aesthetic tricks over substance.

Even more aggravating are the film's self-defeating inaccuracies, expecting viewers to ignore glaring errors. Safe words during breath play, pain after ketamine, superficial cuts exaggerated as grotesque torture, and cocaine absurdly presented as an antidote to ketamine, each detail strains credibility, showing disregard for realism. It's as if the filmmakers assumed viewers wouldn't notice or care.

Ultimately, the film demands an absurd level of suspension of disbelief, insulting my intelligence. Those seeking depth or insight will find only disappointment. The allure here is superficial, targeted at viewers willing to ignore the glaring flaws. For anyone looking for true engagement, skip this vacuous exercise in misplaced style and save your time.

  • Reflections of Humanity

I felt like watching a documentary. The movie is raw, unrelenting, and terrifying. There is no message, no moral of the story - it's simply the story of a boy. It's the kind of film that was made because it had to be made. It's not just a film; it's an experience you need to have in order to become a better human being.

What truly sets this film apart is its ability to evoke a profound emotional response. The cinematography captures the stark realities of life in a way that feels both intimate and brutal, allowing you to connect deeply with the characters. The rawness of their experiences resonates on multiple levels, challenging your understanding of humanity and empathy.

It prompts important questions that resonate deeply, challenging you to reflect on its themes. That's what elevates it to greatness. It's a remarkable addition to the cinematic landscape that leaves a lasting impact. The film forces you to confront uncomfortable truths about society, morality, and the human condition. It's not just something you watch; it's something you feel, something that demands your attention and introspection, something that will linger with you long after the credits roll.

In a world flooded with formulaic narratives and shallow entertainment, this film stands out as a beacon of authenticity. It urges you to engage with its content and consider the broader implications of the story. You walk away not just entertained, but transformed-carrying its weight with you, pondering the complexities of life long after the credits have rolled. This is a film that challenges you to be a better human being, and that's what makes it truly exceptional.

  • Brutal Beauty: Besson's Bold Brilliance

Another masterpiece from Luc Besson. This film latched onto me like a pit bull and didn't let go until the credits rolled. As an animal lover, Dogman found a special place in my heart. But you don't have to love animals to appreciate the brilliance of this movie. It's raw and brutal, yet possesses a twisted elegance that captivates you. Caleb Landry Jones delivers a phenomenal performance that's impossible to ignore.

The only moment that broke my immersion was wondering how they got the dogs to do all those incredible things - they're the best supporting actors! The music, perfectly tuned to every scene, enhances the experience in ways you wouldn't expect. I genuinely can't find any flaws in this film. *Dogman* is what I call true art - the kind that had to be made, that pulls you in, leaves its mark, and changes you for the better, even if you can't quite put into words why.

One piece of advice: have tissues handy. Trust me, you'll need them - unless you're made of stone.
