If you wish to avoid a female sound herself as a boy in the 1st series, this is your answer. Dawn French is miscast as the titular character Jim Hawkins. Why could there not be a 12 or a 13 year boy actor who can voice like him instead of a prude comedian who thinks she can sound like him? I also admit Richard E. Grant is not that great as the voice of Long John Silver.
The animation isn't as crisp as the delightful Dream Stone, which is made by the Filmfair company and the backdrop, feel and the effects of this production are possibly done on the cheap. Nothing really works in this dismal adaptation of a much loved classic novel.
