Other than 2 really good scenes in the middle. This episode was pretty contrived and generic. Russel seems so proud of his ability to do basic set up and pay off whilst most of the pay off is weak. Rushed or unsatisfying. Some good moments but they all felt a bit rehashed. The episode relies so hard on the idea that sutekh is some God figure of all powerful weight. But like, you wouldn't know that from how they're beaten. Because apparently opposable thumbs aren't within his god like powers. Then the mother plot.. well it didn't mother for me. It felt like Rtd set all this up without an ending in mind because most of the plot beats don't actually mean anything, or come together in an intresting way. They just "the power of love is magical" away everything intresting. And .. like i a Good story you're meant to look back and go "ooooh this all feels so purpiseful" when you see all the set up with the knowledge of how it's payed off.. but this didn't feel purposeful, it felt like russelbbadlt writing himself out of a corner. And the ending is even weaker. Drama for drama's sake. There's a few scenes I really quite liked in the mid section that felt like they communicated the drama well, but the rest of the plot just felt like overdramatic and weightless.
I also liked the ending line. A lot. A lot of the actors where amazing but I felt the direction on their lines was a bit weak. Gabriel wollf in particular did amazing for his age, I couldn't tell he aged a day. And a lot of the episode looks stunning I just wish the episode didnt rely on that so much.
So in conclusion, yeah it's not great imo. Saw some people really liked it, so good for then, but I thought it was very weak.
