This is not a bad film, but in the early part of the film I laughed out loud at the implausibility of what I was seeing. It is clearly a high budget movie with some very good lead actors, so if you can get through this section, it is a fairly decent action movie sufficient to fill an hour and a half.

You cannot help liking the characters in this movie. In the 1960's there were many good films about the absurdity and brutality of war. This Japanese film ranks highly among the likes of the American films Catch 22 and Mash. What a fantastic statement for world peace, which has been ignore by many nations since the first and second world wars, an excellent movie.

I have just watched this on You Tube and it is very good. Although there was only one actor that I have seen in several films before, the acting is/was excellent. The plot was fairly good and although I thought that the premise of young adults against trained soldiers was going to be silly, it was handled well and done in a believable way.
